Sandboxer vs IONOS Cloud Compute
IONOS Cloud Compute sells virtual servers, including fixed-size Cubes, with data centres in the EU and Newark. Pricing is per minute (hourly rates listed). Sandboxer is a preconfigured agent sandbox VM with memory-preserving stop/resume and fork. Pick IONOS for EU data residency and simple low-cost VMs; pick Sandboxer for an agent-ready machine.

Where IONOS Cloud Compute is strong
- Low entry prices: a 4 vCPU / 8 GB Cube lists at $0.026 per hour with 240 GB NVMe storage included.
- Data centres in the EU as well as the US.
- Per-minute pay-as-you-go billing.
Where Sandboxer differs
- IONOS Cubes are plain virtual servers; Sandboxer adds an agent API, coding agents, fork and per-port HTTPS URLs.
- IONOS lists fixed Cube sizes (Basic and Memory families); Sandboxer has four sizes with per-second billing.
- Sandboxer stopped sandboxes cost nothing and resume with processes running; no such pause is described on the IONOS Cubes page.
Pick IONOS Cloud Compute if
- You need EU data centres and a cheap general VM.
- You want a stable VM rather than a pause/resume sandbox.
- You need Windows or RHEL images with licence add-ons.
Pick Sandboxer if
- You want a sandbox that stops with memory and disk saved and resumes with processes running, with stopped sandboxes costing nothing.
- You want Docker, systemd, nested KVM, SSH and coding agents (Claude Code, Codex and others) already installed, with HTTPS URLs for any port, without assembling it yourself.
- You want a per-second-billed Ubuntu 24.04 VM driven by a REST API, CLI, MCP server or TypeScript/Python SDK.
