Sandboxer vs Verda (formerly DataCrunch)

Verda sells dedicated CPU and GPU instances, reached by SSH as root, aimed at training and hosted AI workloads. Sandboxer instead gives short-lived Ubuntu microVM sandboxes with agent tooling and no GPUs. Pick Verda when you need GPUs; pick Sandboxer for agent and dev sandboxes.

Where Verda (formerly DataCrunch) is strong

  • Wide GPU range from RTX A6000 and L40S to H200, B300 and GB300 at listed on-demand and spot prices.
  • GPU spot pricing at roughly half the on-demand rate (for example H100 SXM5 $2.280/h spot vs $4.560/h on-demand).

  • Verda sells GPUs; Sandboxer has none.

Pick Verda (formerly DataCrunch) if

  • You need H100, H200 or Blackwell GPUs for training or inference.
  • You want spot GPU pricing for fault-tolerant jobs.
  • You want GPU compute in Finland on renewable power.

Pick Sandboxer if

  • You need a CPU sandbox with Docker, nested KVM and systemd that stops and resumes with running processes intact, and you do not need GPUs.
  • You want coding agents (Claude Code, Codex and others) preinstalled and driven through a prompt API with streamed events.
  • You want per-second billing with stopped sandboxes costing nothing and a flat $20 to $2000 monthly plan whose dollars return as machine time.
