Sandboxer vs Tenki Sandbox

Tenki Sandbox gives agents full Linux VMs with their own kernel, root, Docker, pause that keeps memory, and forking from checkpoints. It is the closest in design to Sandboxer; differences are pricing structure, size caps by plan, and Sandboxer's preinstalled coding agents and nested KVM. Pick Tenki for larger VMs on its Team plan; pick Sandboxer for flat plans and preinstalled agents.

Where Tenki Sandbox is strong

  • Full Linux VM with root and Docker, and pause that preserves memory.
  • Fork sessions from a disk-and-memory checkpoint.
  • Per-second billing with Team VMs up to 16 cores and 64 GB RAM.
  • TypeScript, Go and Python SDKs and a CLI.

Where Sandboxer differs

  • Tenki Starter VMs top out at 4 cores and 8 GB and 5 active sessions; Team allows 16 cores, 64 GB and 100 sessions at $200 to $250 a month.
  • Tenki bills CPU, memory and disk as separate usage rates after credits; Sandboxer plans return every plan dollar as machine time.
  • Sandboxer ships coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and more) in every sandbox with a prompt API; Tenki lets you bring your own agent.
  • Nested virtualization is not documented for Tenki; Sandboxer provides /dev/kvm.

Pick Tenki Sandbox if

  • You need VMs larger than 16 vCPU / 32 GB (Tenki Team goes to 16 cores and 64 GB).
  • You want a plan with up to 100 concurrent sessions at a flat monthly fee plus usage.
  • You want to bring your own agent via SDK or CLI.

Pick Sandboxer if

  • You want coding agents preinstalled and driven through a prompt API.
  • You need nested KVM and systemd in a full Ubuntu 24.04 VM.
  • You want plans that convert every dollar into machine time and a 7-day trial.
