Sandboxer vs Sandbox0
Sandbox0 gives AI agents persistent gVisor-isolated cloud sandboxes with snapshot, restore and fork, billed per GiB-hour of memory with no separate CPU charge. Default pause keeps files but starts fresh processes; memory pause is experimental. Pick Sandbox0 for memory-only billing and its checkpoint API; pick Sandboxer for a full-VM microVM with its own kernel, nested KVM and resume that brings processes back.

Where Sandbox0 is strong
- Memory-only pricing: no separate CPU charge, billed per second.
- Paused sandboxes stop compute billing while keeping retained storage.
- Snapshot, restore and copy-on-write style fork from running or paused sandboxes.
- One-time $5 credit with no card required.
Where Sandboxer differs
- Default Sandbox0 pause does not keep running processes (memory pause is experimental); Sandboxer resume restores processes.
- Sandbox0 lists a 20 active-sandbox default quota; Sandboxer plans set concurrency from 100 up.
- Sandbox0 sandboxes run in a gVisor guest and its pages do not state nested virtualization or regions; each Sandboxer sandbox is a full-VM microVM with its own kernel and /dev/kvm.
- Sandbox0 self-hosting has ended; Sandboxer is also not self-hostable.
Pick Sandbox0 if
- You want billing by memory only, with free CPU, and a prepaid credit model without a monthly plan.
- You want snapshot/fork of sandboxes as a first-class API.
- You want to start without a card (new users get $5 credit).
Pick Sandboxer if
- Sandboxer gives each sandbox a full Ubuntu 24.04 VM with root, systemd and Docker preinstalled.
- Sandboxer stop/resume keeps memory and running processes.
- Sandboxer exposes any port as an HTTPS URL and bundles Claude Code, Codex and other coding agents.
