Sandboxer vs Kamatera
Kamatera sells configurable KVM cloud servers (up to 104 vCPUs) with root access, hourly or monthly billing and over 20 data center locations. It is a general VPS host: powered-off servers still pay for storage and IP, and nested virtualization is not supported, while Sandboxer gives agents pausable VMs with nested KVM and per-port URLs. Pick Kamatera for long-running custom servers in many locations; pick Sandboxer for agent workspaces that start, pause and fork.

At a glance
= not documented publicly.
Where Kamatera is strong
- Servers are configurable by CPU type (A, B, T, D), up to 104 vCPUs, rather than fixed sizes.
- Hourly servers are billed by the minute, and prepaid monthly servers carry no long-term commitment.
- Over 20 locations including Tel Aviv, Milan, Bucharest and Tokyo.
- Servers can be cloned to the same or another data center.
Where Sandboxer differs
- Kamatera does not support nested virtualization; Sandboxer exposes /dev/kvm.
- A powered-off Kamatera server still pays for storage and IP; a stopped Sandboxer sandbox costs nothing and resumes with its processes.
- Kamatera has many locations; Sandboxer runs in us-east and eu-central.
- Sandboxer ships coding agents, a prompt API and any port as an HTTPS URL; Kamatera is a plain VPS.
Pick Kamatera if
- You want a long-running server with a custom CPU/RAM mix in a specific country.
- You want monthly fixed pricing or Windows servers.
Pick Sandboxer if
- You need nested KVM inside the VM.
- You want sandboxes that pause with memory and cost nothing while stopped.
- You want coding agents preinstalled with a prompt API and MCP server.
